It was another cracking spring day on Taymount. Pictured is Alun Williams with Taymounts second spring salmon of 2013. The 9lb fish was hooked and landed in the linn pool on a copper salmo. Also pictured is a rawner landed by Richie on a floating devon.
Taymount is one of the most legendary beats on the River Tay. The water is very varied and has excellent streamy water, ideal for flyfishing in all but the biggest spates. There are also deeper runs and pools where salmon hold up in all waters. There is always a chance of fish on Taymount regardless of conditions, but a rise in the water offers the best opportunities of all.

Opening day 2013
It was a fantastic opening day on Taymount yesterday. The weather was crisp and bright and the light covering of snow made for great spring fishing conditions. The day began with a great opening ceremony with pipes from Taymount laird John Lindsay and a great speech and toast by Alex Graham. John made the traditional first cast and the new season was declared open. There were a couple of late running salmon landed in the morning. After a cracking lunch it was time to get back on the water again. Alex turned out to be lucky for the second year running by landing Taymounts first spring salmon of the season. The 13 1/2 lb opening day fish was hooked in the majors cast on a vision 110. Very well done to Alex on this great achievement. It was a great day and hopefully the start of a great season on Taymount.
